I’m Barbara A. Hawley, writing the Island Girl mysteries for middle graders, and their siblings, moms, grandmas, or anyone looking for a fun read of ticklish situations, puppy love, and international intrigue.

My first published fiction story is in a collection by editor Jodie Renner. This wonderful project is close to my heart, as I grew up seeing child laborers on the streets of Manila. All proceeds from the book go to help SOS Children's Villages.

Find me on Facebook, where I post 'vintage'

missionary kid photos and writing news.

"Barbara A. Hawley, you are doing a wonderful job

transcribing your memories and individual experiences

Stories of Hope for Asian Child Workers

Hidden in darkness and unnoticed by the rest of the world, there exists a horrible situation in South Asia - India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Millions of children as young as five, forced to work up to 16 hours a day. Barely enough food. Poor accommodations for sleep and hygiene. Working in dangerous situations - mines, quarries, factories, brickyards, and on the streets.
